Text Box: BASIC SKILLS ENHANCEMENT Classes begin July 19 This is a prescriptive reading and writing program for students enrolled in Glenn School who will be entering grades 1 through 6 in September. It will be taught by Beth Britton. Students must be referred by their teacher in order to register for this class. Parents will receive a letter from their child’s teacher recommending that he/she attend the class. The staff will assemble a folder outlining the academic standards that were not mastered by each student during the school year and include support materials for each student who is registered before the deadline. The focus will be on reading comprehension, fluency, decoding, and writing relative to skills that were not individually mastered. Dates: July 19 – 22 and July 26 - 29 Days: Monday through Thursday Time: 9:00 – noon Text Box: We have a “Meet The Teacher Day” open house scheduled for Thursday, September 2, 2010 from 2:30 – 4:30 pm. Please bring your child(ren) to school to meet the staff and enjoy light refreshments. The first day of school is Tuesday, September 7, 2010, which is a full day so please send a lunch to school with your child. Each day, school will begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 3:15 p.m. Please do not drop off your child before 7:50 a.m. as there will be no supervision until that time. Students receiving breakfast, which will consist of a breakfast bar and juice, need to be to school at 7:50 a.m. Text Box: GLENN FEST Glenn School will be open from 11:00—2:00 on Saturday, July 24th. The school will be holding a silent auction.
